A Coditas whitepaper on hereditary cancer risk identification
Highlights
- The testing gap: Only 6.8% (93,052 of 1,369,602 patients) of cancer patients received germline genetic testing within two years of diagnosis, across more than 1.3 million patients in a national study. A rate that fell as low as 1.1% for prostate cancer and 0.3% for lung cancer.[1]
- The referral gap: Among women with a personal history of breast or ovarian cancer who met NCCN testing criteria, 84.7% and 89.5% respectively had never been tested; fewer than 1 in 5 eligible patients, across a national sample of more than 47,000 women.[2]
