IoT Data Lake for Connected DevicesIoT Data Lake for Connected Devices

The Challenge

A skincare-device company had no centralized way to monitor its fleet of treatment devices across salons. Inconsistent maintenance, delayed software upgrades, unauthorized device relocations, and the use of expired consumables affected service quality, and there was no data-driven view of usage trends.

The Solution

Coditas built a cloud-native AWS data lake. Device sensors streamed through IoT Core into Kinesis Streams, with Firehose and a Lambda transform flattening and batching data into a partitioned S3 lake. Glue Data Catalog managed schema, Athena ran SQL analytics, and results fed R/Python reporting on device health, usage trends, and compliance.

The Outcome

Real-time device monitoring improved maintenance compliance and reduced downtime. The solution reduced unauthorized relocations, flagged expired consumables before use, and surfaced usage-vs-sales insight that boosted peak-period sales.
